Technically yes — many courses allow walk-ins. But availability is never guaranteed. Thailand’s golf system depends on caddies, and you cannot play without one. Even if a tee time appears open, the course may reject walk-ins simply because no caddies or golf carts are available.

Morning walk-ins are especially difficult. Most caddies are assigned before 7:30–8:00 AM, and popular courses often operate at full capacity until early afternoon. Walk-ins may still be possible later in the day, particularly after 12:00, but only if enough caddies have returned from morning rounds.

If you want a stress-free experience, a specific course, or a morning tee time, you should not rely on walk-ins.

Why Walk-Ins Are Limited at Thai Golf Courses

There are three major reasons walk-ins can be denied:

1. Caddy Availability Every golfer must have a caddy. If all caddies are assigned, the course cannot allow additional players — even if the tee sheet shows available time slots.

2. Mandatory Golf Carts Many courses require mandatory carts, and if carts are fully booked, walk-ins cannot be accepted.

3. Pace-of-Play Management During high season, courses tightly control tee times to maintain rhythm. Adding walk-ins disrupts flow, which is why morning walk-ins are commonly declined.

Golf Walk-In Rules by Destination

Walk-in chances vary heavily depending on the region — but in every location, walk-in prices are significantly more expensive than booking with Fairways of Eden. Courses charge full public rates at the counter, often 1,000–2,500 THB more per person than contracted partner rates.

Phuket

Phuket is the toughest region for walk-ins. Courses like Red Mountain, Blue Canyon, Laguna, Aquella, Loch Palm, and Katathong book out most mornings during the year. Even when tee times appear open, caddies may not be available. Afternoon walk-ins are sometimes possible but never reliable — and walk-in pricing is always higher than pre-booked rates.

Pattaya

Pattaya offers slightly more flexibility, but premium clubs like Siam Country Club, Chee Chan, and Laem Chabang almost never allow walk-ins in the morning. Some mid-range courses may accept walk-ins after 12:00 depending on caddy numbers. As in all regions, walk-in golfers pay higher public rates.

Hua Hin

Hua Hin is generally more walk-in friendly. Courses such as Palm Hills or Springfield may allow afternoon walk-ins. However, premium courses like Black Mountain and Pineapple Valley often sell out in the morning. Regardless of availability, walk-ins always face higher pricing than pre-arranged tee times.

Bangkok

Bangkok has many courses, but walk-ins are still unpredictable. Elite clubs such as Alpine, Amata Spring, Nikanti, and Riverdale require reservations and do not accept walk-ins at all. Some weekday afternoon walk-ins may be possible at other courses, though at full public rates.

Chiang Mai

Chiang Mai is the most relaxed destination for walk-ins. Afternoon walk-ins work more frequently here, especially on weekdays. High season still sees capacity issues, and walk-in golfers always pay more than those who booked through Fairways of Eden.

The Best Times for Walk-Ins

The most realistic time for walk-ins is after 12:00 or 13:00. By then, some caddies have returned from morning rounds, creating openings for new players. Afternoon weather can be warmer, but carts and caddies help keep the experience comfortable. The worst time for walk-ins is early morning. Even if the tee looks empty, courses may still decline walk-ins due to caddy shortages or flow control.

Walk-Ins During High Season (Nov–March)

High season is peak tourism and peak golf season. Courses often run at 90–100% capacity from November to March. Morning walk-ins are extremely rare, and many golfers who try are turned away. Afternoon walk-ins may work, but only sporadically. If you’re visiting during high season, walk-ins should never be your main plan.

Walk-Ins Are Always More Expensive Than Booking in Advance

One of the biggest surprises for golfers is how much walk-ins cost. Thai golf courses charge the highest possible rate to walk-in players — full public pricing with no discounts. This can be significantly more expensive than advance bookings.

If you like spontaneity, you can still try walk-ins — just do it smartly. Call the course before you go and ask whether any caddies are available. Avoid mornings, weekends, and high season. Bring sunscreen, expect warmer conditions, and remain flexible with your start time. Still, even if you’re open to randomness, booking ahead remains the safer and cheaper option.
