Ayodhya Links is a long and demanding course where water, bunkering and green contouring influence almost every shot. The fairways roll and change direction across land that was originally much flatter, creating sidehill lies and approach angles that are not always visible from the tee. Large water features repeatedly narrow the useful playing corridor, while the deep and individually shaped bunkers make recovery difficult when an aggressive line is missed. The greens add a further challenge through strong slopes, raised sections and limited areas for demanding flag positions.
The site north of Bangkok was originally flat, flood-prone agricultural land with few natural changes in elevation. During development, the terrain was reshaped into rolling fairways, raised targets, streams and a network of connected water features. A large central lake now dominates the clubhouse view and helps define the routing, while additional ponds and channels create different strategic demands throughout the course. Mature planting and protected wildlife areas have gradually given the property a more established landscape than its original open setting.
The original conceptual routing was prepared by Thomson and Perrett, while founder Pitak Intrawityanunt directed the final design with independent architects and the construction team. The finished course continually changes direction, using wind, water and angled green complexes to prevent golfers from repeating the same strategy from hole to hole. Many fairways appear broad, but the useful landing area depends on the position of the next water carry, bunker complex or sloping target. Strong play comes from choosing tees realistically, identifying the preferred approach side and avoiding short-sided misses around the most severely contoured greens.
The championship course measures 7,626 yards, so select a tee according to reliable carry and approach distance rather than maximum potential.
Water influences every hole, making it important to establish the safe line and required carry before selecting a club.
Use the fairway width to favour the side that opens the green instead of automatically aiming at the centre of the visible corridor.
Use local advice on approach position because finishing above the hole or on the wrong section can leave an extremely difficult recovery.
Hole 8: The eighth is a demanding three-shot hole where safe progress must be balanced against the position required for the final approach. Its green is among the course’s most strongly contoured targets, placing additional pressure on the angle and distance of the third shot.
Hole 15: The fifteenth is defined by a compact, domed green and one of the course’s most prominent bunker complexes. Approaches that miss the correct section can leave a difficult bunker shot or a recovery played toward a target that falls away from the golfer.
Holes 17 and 18: The seventeenth requires an approach across a stream before the routing reaches its lakeside finish. The eighteenth changes character according to the selected tee and can play as a par five from the regular position or as a par four from a forward island tee.
Ayodhya Links provides a real-grass driving range measuring more than 300 yards, with target greens for full-shot practice. The short-game complex includes a chipping green, practice bunker and putting green. The clubhouse contains a dining room, golf merchandise shop and separate men’s and women’s locker rooms. The club operates exclusively for members and invited guests, and a golfer cannot secure a standard public visitor reservation independently. Caddies are used by players, while all access conditions, playing arrangements, attire rules and equipment requirements are controlled by the club and the hosting member.
Ayodhya Links does not publish a normal outside-visitor green fee because it is an exclusive private club. Any applicable guest charges are connected to an eligible member invitation and the club’s internal arrangements.
Visitors can only play when they are invited and hosted under an eligible member arrangement. Ayodhya Links does not operate like a publicly bookable Bangkok golf course.
No. It is an inland course rather than a traditional coastal links. Its open landscape, exposed wind and rolling fairways provide some links-inspired characteristics, but lakes, streams and lush parkland features dominate the design.
Ayodhya Links is highly demanding from its back tees. Water on every hole, 80 bunkers, rolling lies, championship length and strongly contoured greens require accurate driving and precise approach play.
Caddies are used by players at the club, and current specialist listings also describe golf carts as part of the private-club playing arrangement. Final requirements are determined by the club and the hosting member.
