Chiangmai Highlands moves between open foothill views and more enclosed valley corridors. Tee shots often look generous, but the following shot becomes more exact as fairways tilt, bunkers tighten the preferred angle and greens slope away from the line of approach. The three nine-hole loops change the rhythm of the round, yet the recurring test remains consistent: establish position first, then judge elevation and green contours precisely.
Chiangmai Highlands occupies foothill and valley ground east of Chiang Mai, with the Valley, Highlands and Mountain nines spread across distinct parts of the property. Tropical vegetation, streams, lakes and changing ground levels separate the holes without making the site feel enclosed. The terrain is not decorative background: it controls sightlines, creates uneven lies and introduces water at different stages of each routing.
Schmidt-Curley Design uses broad fairways to present choices rather than remove difficulty. The safest driving line does not always leave the cleanest approach, while deep bunkers punish misses near preferred landing zones and green entrances. Paspalum fairways lead into firm TifEagle greens, many of which slope away from the fairway. Closely mown surrounds widen the recovery options but expose weak distance control. Strategic depth comes from deciding how much angle, carry and contour to challenge before the approach.
Select a tee that keeps the longer uphill approaches manageable; the back combinations extend beyond seven thousand yards.
Use the wider side of a fairway only when it still leaves a workable line into the green.
Allow for uphill and downhill lies, then favour the side that keeps the ball below the hole.
Trust local reads on firm greens and closely mown surrounds, where a lofted recovery is not always safest.
Valley Course (A): At 3,617 yards from the black tees, this is the longest nine. Its routing repeatedly brings water into view and asks players to balance safer lines against stronger approach angles.
Highlands Course (B): Only seven yards shorter from the black tees, this nine maintains full-length pressure. The par-5 ninth is divided by a watercourse before the green, making the second shot primarily a positioning decision.
Mountain Course (C): At 3,522 yards from the black tees, it is the shortest nine, but not automatically the easiest. Changing ground, bunkers and protected approaches continue to punish loose positioning.
Chiangmai Highlands has a 300-yard grass-tee driving range, three putting greens, a short-game area with bunkers, a pro shop, restaurants and locker rooms with showers. Rental clubs can be requested, subject to availability. A caddie is compulsory. Fairways of Eden includes one cart per golfer, and the course requires the caddie to drive it. The official scorecard recommends a maximum playing time of four hours and thirty minutes for 18 holes.
The current starting rate is displayed dynamically in the Green Fees & Booking card above. It includes the services listed beside the rate, while the requested date, playing combination and final tee time remain subject to confirmation by the course.
Chiangmai Highlands is moderately demanding from sensible tees and significantly tougher from the back markers. Broad fairways provide room, but deep bunkers, changing lies and firm, sloping greens make approach position and short-game judgement important throughout the round.
Complete beginners may find the green complexes, bunkering and elevation demanding. Newer golfers can still enjoy the course from forward tees with a patient pace, but it is better suited to players who already strike the ball with reasonable consistency.
A caddie is compulsory. Fairways of Eden also includes one cart per golfer, and the course requires the caddie to drive it. Golfers should confirm any walking preference before booking rather than assume that walking is available.
