The round feels open at first glance, but the water network quickly narrows the comfortable lines. Fairways rise and fall gently rather than dramatically, so the challenge comes from changing angles, forced carries and approaches played with hazards close to the target. Mature trees frame many corridors, while the mix of five par threes and five par fives creates frequent changes in club selection and scoring rhythm.
Gassan Legacy occupies the lowland Ban Thi countryside in Lamphun, where rice fields, mature vegetation and an interconnected lake system define the site. The ground is not mountainous, but subtle rolls in the fairways create separation across an otherwise open landscape. Water is therefore more than scenery: it shapes sightlines, divides landing areas and gives the course its identity. The setting also explains why accurate carries and disciplined targets matter throughout the round.
The 2014 redesign prioritises position over maximum distance. Broad-looking fairways often contain a preferred side because the following shot can be shortened or opened by choosing the safer angle away from water and bunkers. Longer players receive risk-and-reward opportunities on the par fives, but aggressive routes can introduce carries that are unnecessary from conservative lines. Near the greens, the main defence shifts to protected entrances, surrounding water and putting surfaces that punish approaches from poor positions.
Use a tee that removes unnecessary forced carries and keeps the main water decisions within your reliable playing distance.
Favour the widest dry landing area instead of chasing extra distance across water from an uncomfortable angle.
Expect frequent club changes across five par threes, five par fives and the shorter par-35 back nine.
Trust the caddie’s line where water, bunkering or the safest green entrance is difficult to judge from the fairway.
The front nine plays to par 37 and contains three par fives, creating several opportunities to decide between aggressive advancement and a controlled next shot. Two par threes interrupt the longer sequence, while the remaining holes place greater emphasis on full approaches and carry distance.
The back nine plays to par 35 and becomes more compressed, with three par threes and two par fives. Its closing sequence changes the rhythm once more: the par-four 16th leads into the par-five 17th before the round ends on the par-three 18th. That unusual finish places the final emphasis on distance control rather than power.
Gassan Legacy provides a driving range, putting green, pro shop, restaurant and changing facilities. Rental clubs and other equipment should be requested in advance and remain subject to availability. A caddie and golf cart are compulsory, so walking should not be expected. The cart-based format helps movement between water-separated holes, while local caddie guidance is particularly useful when judging carry lines, safer landing areas and approaches into protected greens.
The current starting rate is displayed dynamically in the Green Fees & Booking card above. It covers the inclusions identified beside the rate, while the requested date, playing time and final availability remain subject to confirmation by the course.
Yes. The property was previously known as Gassan Lake City Golf Club. Following a major redesign, it reopened under the Gassan Legacy Golf Club name in 2014. The former name should be retained as an alternate entity reference rather than used as the primary page name.
Gassan Legacy is moderately challenging because water, forced carries and approach angles punish poor direction more than a lack of distance. Sensible tee selection makes the layout manageable, but golfers who regularly struggle to carry hazards may find several parts of the round demanding.
