Bonanza Golf & Country Club feels generous from several tees, but its overall length and mature tree lines quickly punish poorly chosen angles. The course repeatedly asks golfers to position the ball for the next shot rather than simply aim toward the centre of the fairway. Water becomes especially influential on selected par fours and par fives, while elevated and sloping greens place additional pressure on approach distance and putting position. From the correct tee, the layout remains enjoyable for mixed-ability groups, but the 7,482-yard championship setup is a serious test.
Bonanza Golf & Country Club forms part of the wider Bonanza Khao Yai estate in the countryside around Khanong Phra and Pak Chong. The course moves through an open inland valley with mountain scenery, mature trees and several large bodies of water shaping the visual character of the round. Elevation changes are noticeable without making the routing feel excessively steep, allowing long views across the property while still producing uneven lies and changing shot perspectives. The combination of open valley scenery and established tree-lined corridors gives Bonanza a different identity from the flatter golf courses around Bangkok.
Bob McFarland designed Bonanza around length, positioning and the natural movement of the valley. Several holes offer enough width from the tee, but the most useful side of the fairway is determined by trees, water, bunkering and the angle into the green. The long par fives reward golfers who plan the second shot carefully rather than automatically attempting maximum distance, while the later holes place increasing emphasis on controlling the ball below the hole. A patient strategy that protects the next shot is generally more effective than repeated aggressive attempts to overpower the course.
Choose a tee according to reliable carry distance; the 7,482-yard black-tee layout adds considerable pressure to the long par fours and par fives.
On the longer holes, play toward the best position for the approach rather than forcing distance into water, trees or an uneven landing area.
A blocked route from beneath the mature trees can be more damaging than giving up a few metres by choosing the safer side of the fairway.
Several greens contain pronounced slopes, so use your caddie’s advice and favour an uphill putt rather than attacking every flag directly.
Hole 16: This 460-yard par four turns to the right around a prominent tree in the fairway. The preferred route must avoid both the central obstruction and the danger behind the left side of the green, while the sloping putting surface makes approach position important.
Hole 17: The 196-yard par three plays toward a green set beside the mountain. Elevation affects the effective distance, and missing toward the lower right side can leave a difficult recovery from below the putting surface.
Hole 18: The 565-yard par five provides a choice between two routes. The right side offers the shorter path but introduces trees and bunkers, while the more conservative line requires greater distance before the final approach.

Bonanza Golf & Country Club is an 18-hole, par-72 course. The published yardages are 7,482 yards from the black tees, 6,959 from blue, 6,498 from white and 5,932 from red.
The course is demanding from the championship tees because of its length, mature tree lines, water hazards, changing elevations and sloping greens. From the white or red tees, it becomes considerably more manageable for average and higher-handicap golfers.
Bonanza can suit beginners who play from an appropriate forward tee and use a conservative strategy. The fairways provide reasonable space in several areas, but golfers must still manage water, trees and the overall length of the course.
One caddie per golfer is included in the Fairways of Eden quotation. The applicable golf-cart inclusion and allocation are confirmed for the requested date before payment, and the carts are normally operated by the caddies.
