The opening hole begins on relatively level ground, but the round soon climbs through coconut-lined corridors before descending from exposed tees. Level stances become less common as uphill, downhill and sidehill lies repeatedly change club selection. Wind becomes more influential on the higher holes, while enclosed sections feel tighter and more sheltered. The round’s rhythm comes from constant changes in height, angle and visibility rather than length alone.
Santiburi occupies a broad hillside above Mae Nam, framed by established coconut groves and views across the Gulf of Thailand towards Koh Phangan. The course rises from approximately 30 to 290 metres above sea level, so its identity comes from the land’s vertical movement. Rocky terrain, creeks, a reservoir and a natural waterfall interrupt the routing, while palms create enclosed corridors between the more exposed upper sections.
Strategy starts with finding a landing position that leaves a stable stance and clear approach rather than simply maximising distance. Fairways tilt, narrow and turn around bunkers, palms, ravines and ridges, so the preferred side changes from hole to hole. Elevated and two-tiered greens place a premium on distance control, while misses can fall sharply away from the target. The strongest holes offer a conservative route and a more aggressive carry, rewarding placement, commitment and disciplined club selection.
The club recommends white tees above a 10 handicap, blue from 4–10 and black only below 4.
Choose landing areas that provide a stable stance and clear approach rather than automatically taking driver.
Recalculate effective yardage on steep drops and climbs, particularly across the course’s more exposed upper holes.
Rely on local guidance for blind lines, sloping landing areas and the pace and break of TifEagle greens.
Hole 4 – The Ravine, Par 3 Hazards protect three sides of this short green. The left side offers the safest margin, making precise distance control more valuable than attacking a difficult flag.
Hole 6 – The Waterfall, Par 3 The tee sits well above the green, with a natural waterfall behind the target. The drop changes the effective yardage and punishes indecision.
Hole 11 – The Cliffs, Par 4 This uphill dogleg leads to a narrow green. Missing left brings a severe fall into play, increasing the value of controlled positioning and distance.
Hole 17 – The Summit and the Signature, Par 5 The official signature hole starts from the course’s high point. The right side provides the safer route, while stronger players can challenge the green in two.
Santiburi has a driving range and putting green, a pro shop, rental clubs and shoes, locker rooms, and a clubhouse restaurant overlooking the course and sea. One caddie and one cart per golfer are compulsory, and only caddies may drive. Groups may contain no more than five people, including an accompanying non-golfer. Collared, sleeved golf shirts and appropriate golf trousers, shorts or skirts are required; denim and athletic wear are not accepted. Golfers should register at least fifteen minutes before tee-off.
The current starting rate is displayed dynamically in the booking card above. It covers the services identified alongside the rate, while the final price, requested playing time and availability remain subject to confirmation by the course.
Santiburi is a demanding mountain course. Steep elevation changes, uneven lies, narrow preferred landing areas and protected greens make accuracy and club selection more important than distance. The official course guide recommends the white tees for players with handicaps above 10.
Complete beginners may find Santiburi difficult because the terrain creates forced carries, uneven stances and demanding approaches. Newer golfers can still play by choosing forward tees, following their caddie’s advice and treating the round as an experience rather than a scoring test.
Yes. The course requires one caddie and one golf cart for each golfer, and only the caddie may drive. The booking card identifies which compulsory services are included, while tips and optional extras are confirmed separately.
