Chee Chan begins with broad views and generous-looking driving corridors, but the round becomes progressively more exacting as water, diagonal hazards and shaped landing areas influence position. The open setting exposes players to changing wind, while large greens make distance control and the correct putting section important. The back nine adds more movement, risk-reward choices and a demanding water-influenced finish.
Chee Chan occupies rolling ground beside Khao Chee Chan, where the gold Buddha engraving remains a constant visual reference. The layout is largely open rather than tree-lined, allowing distant views towards the Pattaya skyline and Gulf of Thailand. Lakes, streams, wetlands and native planting divide the exposed ground, while gentle rises and falls create changing sightlines without turning the course into a steep mountain layout.
David Dale’s routing uses width to create choices rather than automatic safety. Several fairways offer more than one landing area, but the easiest drive does not always provide the cleanest angle into the green. Lakes and streams frequently sit diagonally to play, while bunkers narrow preferred routes or collect shots that challenge hazards too aggressively. Large, contoured greens reward precise distance control; finding the wrong section can leave a defensive first putt even after a successful approach.
Select a tee that keeps the longer par fours and repeated water decisions within your reliable carrying distance.
Use the fairway width to secure the clearest angle rather than automatically aiming at the centre.
Recheck wind and elevation before approach shots because the open ground can make the effective yardage change.
Use local guidance to identify the correct landing section and avoid leaving long putts across major contours.
Hole 15 – Par 4: The decision is immediate: attack a potentially reachable green or lay back to a preferred wedge distance. Multiple routes make the 15th one of Chee Chan’s clearest risk-reward holes.
Hole 17 – Par 3: The tees sit beside the lake, while water protects the right of the green and bunkers guard both sides. Club selection matters because the safe miss options are limited.
Hole 18 – Par 4: The final hole begins below the Buddha Mountain view. Its undulating fairway presents two distinct landing areas, and the chosen position controls the angle into the green; a left-side approach miss offers the better recovery.

Chee Chan is demanding from the longer tees because of its overall length, exposed water, strategic bunkering and large contoured greens. The broad fairways provide some room from the tee, but accurate approach shots and sensible course management remain important throughout the round.
Complete beginners may find Chee Chan’s length, water and green contours difficult. Newer golfers who already play regular rounds can still enjoy the course by choosing forward tees, avoiding unnecessary carries and prioritising position rather than distance or score.
Fairways of Eden’s tee-time setup includes one caddie and a golf cart. The course’s current public pages do not clearly publish its complete compulsory-use or walking policy, so the confirmed booking details should be treated as the final authority for the selected date.
