Khao Kheow Country Club is a position-led test in which the safest-looking route is not always the strongest line for the next shot. Elevation changes alter effective yardage and create uneven lies, while water, deep bunkers and plateau-style landing areas place pressure on both club selection and direction. The exposed position between surrounding hills can also bring changing wind into play, particularly on longer approaches and par threes. From the correct tee, the course remains enjoyable for mixed-ability groups, but the longest combinations demand accurate driving and disciplined course management.
Khao Kheow Country Club occupies an inland valley between rolling hills in the Bang Phra area of Chon Buri. The course moves across more varied ground than many of the flatter layouts along Thailand’s Eastern Seaboard, creating elevated tees, rising approaches and changing views across the surrounding countryside. Water hazards and mature tropical vegetation divide the playing corridors, while open sections of the property remain exposed to breezes moving inland from the coast. This combination gives Khao Kheow a distinctive natural character without positioning the page as a broader guide to Pattaya golf.
Perry Dye designed Khao Kheow around visual pressure, diagonal hazards and the relationship between the drive and the next approach. Wide areas of fairway do not always provide the clearest angle because water, bunkers and changes in elevation influence which side offers the strongest view of the target. Aggressive lines can shorten selected holes, but missing the intended carry often brings a more severe penalty than accepting a longer approach from safe ground. The most reliable strategy is to identify the available bailout, prioritise a balanced lie and avoid attacking a tightly defended flag from the wrong side.
Check whether the round combines Courses A, B or C because the pairing changes the total length, sequence and balance of hazards.
Use the available fairway width to find level ground and a clear approach rather than chasing maximum distance onto a side slope.
Recalculate effective yardage on raised tees and uphill approaches, particularly when the exposed setting introduces a crosswind.
Choose a club for the safe centre of the B8 green rather than attacking a difficult flag beside the surrounding water.
Course A: Course A forms one half of the traditional 7,077-yard A–B championship combination. Its undulating terrain, water hazards and strategically defended landing areas establish the course-management demands that define Khao Kheow.
Course B: Course B contains the club’s most recognisable hole: the par-three eighth with its island green. When A and B are played in that order, B8 becomes the seventeenth hole of the round, creating a late decision where precise carry distance matters more than power.
Course C: Course C measures 3,412 yards from its published blue tees and provides another possible component of the club’s rotating 18-hole setup. It is shorter than the reference A–B combination but continues the same themes of water, elevation, strategic bunkering and approach accuracy.
Khao Kheow Country Club provides a driving range, clubhouse restaurant, locker rooms, caddie services and golf carts. One caddie is required for each golfer, while the applicable golf-cart inclusion and allocation are confirmed with the Fairways of Eden quotation. Khao Kheow Country Club has 27 holes divided into three par-36 nine-hole courses named A, B and C. An 18-hole round combines two of the three nines and normally plays to par 72.
The available combination depends on the club’s operating and maintenance schedule for the requested date. Fairways of Eden will confirm the assigned or available nines whenever the club provides that information with the tee-time quotation.
The published A–B combination measures 7,077 yards from blue, 6,359 from yellow, 5,780 from white and 5,049 from red. Course C measures 3,412 yards from its published blue tees, so the total distance changes when C forms part of the assigned round.
Khao Kheow Country Club was designed by Perry Dye of Dye Designs and opened in 1992. The layout reflects the Dye approach through visual pressure, strategic water, pronounced bunkering and risk-reward decisions.
The best-known hole is Course B hole 8, a par three played to an island green. When Courses A and B are combined in that order, it becomes the seventeenth hole of the round.
Khao Kheow is demanding from the longer tees because of its length, elevation changes, water hazards, bunkering and exposed wind. The course becomes more manageable from suitable forward tees, although accurate positioning and approach control remain important.
Beginners can play Khao Kheow from an appropriate forward tee, but the water carries, uneven lies and defended greens make it more challenging than a simple resort course. Less experienced golfers should choose conservative targets and follow their caddie’s local advice.
One caddie per golfer is included in the Fairways of Eden quotation. The applicable golf-cart inclusion and allocation are confirmed for the requested date before payment together with the green fee and any optional transfer.
