A round at Phoenix Gold changes character as the selected nines move between open views, tree-lined corridors and more water-led holes. The rolling ground produces frequent uneven stances and shifting sightlines, while several approaches play to raised or contoured greens. Mountain feels most three-dimensional, Ocean opens towards distant landscape views, and Lakes places greater emphasis on position and lay-up decisions.
Phoenix Gold occupies naturally rolling parkland in Huai Yai, with mature and younger trees, shrubs, lakes, ponds and bunkers distributed across three nines. The terrain creates the course’s identity: fairways rise, fall and turn through vegetation rather than following one exposed resort corridor. Mountain uses the strongest elevation changes, Ocean gradually climbs through its middle holes, and Lakes relies more heavily on water and rerouted ground to shape decisions.
Phoenix Gold’s strategic depth comes from changing angles rather than relentless narrowness. On Mountain, sloping fairways and elevated targets make the quality of the lie as important as distance. Ocean combines tree-lined driving lines with doglegs and raised greens, so the second shot often determines the scoring chance. Lakes was substantially reworked to create sharper water decisions, especially where a safer route leaves a longer approach. Across all three nines, fairway position controls visibility, carry requirements and the safest green entrance.
Select tees that keep the longer uphill approaches and water carries within a comfortable range.
Play for flatter landing areas; a shorter shot from a balanced stance is often the better option.
On Lakes, choose the safe or aggressive line before selecting a club and committing to the shot.
Ask the caddie about elevation, green movement and the day’s nine-hole combination before committing to targets.
Mountain 6 — Par 4: The Mountain nine’s signature hole descends into a valley before climbing towards a shallow, elevated green. Uneven lies and the gully before the target make the approach the decisive shot.
Ocean 9 — Par 5: This dogleg rewards a controlled second shot into the correct angle. Trees can block the left side, while the elevated green, front bunker and central ridge punish a poorly positioned lay-up.
Lakes 6 — Par 5: The sharp dogleg offers a direct carry across water or a longer route over land. The choice changes the remaining approach dramatically, and the small green keeps the hole demanding after the main risk decision.
The clubhouse includes a restaurant, pro shop and spacious locker rooms. Practice facilities comprise a 12-bay driving range plus separate chipping and putting greens. Rental clubs and shoes are available, but suitable sets should be reserved in advance. The club operates one golfer per cart; carts are optional for groups of up to four and compulsory for five-player groups. Caddies are available for course guidance. Confirm the current dress code, caddie requirement and arrival time in the booking confirmation.
The current starting rate is displayed dynamically in the Green Fees & Booking card above. It covers the services shown beside the rate, while the final tee time, playing combination, availability and inclusions remain subject to confirmation from the golf club.
Phoenix Gold provides a moderate test from suitable tees. Its fairways are not uniformly narrow, but rolling ground creates uneven lies, several greens sit above the approach, and the Lakes nine introduces stronger water decisions. Difficulty also changes according to the two nines allocated.
Beginners can play Phoenix Gold when they choose forward tees and accept that uneven stances, water hazards and elevated approaches may produce difficult shots. It is better suited to beginners with some on-course experience than to golfers playing their first full round.
