The round moves through broad, open driving areas but becomes more demanding as elevation, uneven lies and water affect approach shots. Uphill and downhill changes alter club selection and sightlines, while the open setting exposes golfers to changing wind. The course generally feels spacious from the tee, yet its sloping ground and undulating green surrounds make accurate approaches and controlled recovery shots more important than the fairway width initially suggests.
The Mountain Course occupies open, undulating ground in Ban Chang, with long views across low hills and water distributed through the routing. Elevation creates exposed teeing areas, sloping landing zones and uneven stances rather than a flat resort-course rhythm. Trees frame parts of the property without forming consistently narrow corridors, so the course’s strongest physical identity comes from its broad playing space, substantial changes in level and contrast between elevated ground and lower water-lined areas.
The Mountain Course generates strategy through width, elevation and water rather than tight tree-lined corridors. Broad fairways offer several driving positions, but the longest route does not always leave the most stable stance or clearest approach. Sloping lies affect launch and distance control, while water narrows selected lines and undulating surrounds complicate recovery shots. The layout therefore rewards controlled positioning and reliable approach play even though its generous driving areas initially appear forgiving.
Select the tee that keeps uphill approaches and water carries manageable rather than relying only on the generous fairway width.
Prioritise landing areas that leave a balanced stance, even when a longer drive could travel farther down a sloping fairway.
Recalculate carry distances on uphill and downhill shots, particularly when the target or landing area is partly obscured.
Ask the caddie about landing slopes and green contours because the open sightlines can disguise the preferred approach angle.
The scorecard labels holes 1–9 as the British Course and holes 10–18 as the American Course. Both nines play to par 36, but their composition differs. The British nine contains three par fives, three par fours and three par threes, creating frequent changes in hole length and club selection. The American nine contains two par fives, five par fours and two par threes, giving the back nine a longer sequence of par fours before the par-five 18th. This contrast gives the round two distinctly different scoring rhythms.

The course is relatively accessible from the tee because the driving areas are broad. However, elevation changes, uneven lies, water and undulating green surrounds place greater pressure on approach shots and recovery play than the fairway width initially suggests.
