Aquella begins with gently rolling fairways framed by waterways and retained trees, then alternates between open sightlines and more enclosed passages. The terrain is not steep, but fairway mounding changes stance and visibility. Water and coastal wind create the main shifts in difficulty, while bamboo tunnels between selected holes briefly close the view before the course opens towards the Andaman Sea around the 11th. Large greens keep approach position and putting pace important through the finish.
Aquella occupies the former Thai Muang Golf Course property, but it is not a simple renovation or renamed version of the old course. The designers state that only about 30% of the new routing overlaps the previous layout and none of its former features were retained. Local sand provided the base for the rebuilt playing surfaces, while mature trees and tidal creeks were incorporated into the new routing. Timber-faced bunkers provide a deliberate visual connection to the site’s earlier golfing identity.
Aquella is designed around alternative routes rather than one compulsory line. Water influences many holes, but golfers can often lay up before a creek or choose a more aggressive carry that improves the next angle. Fairway mounding changes stance and visibility, while timber-faced bunkers define useful landing areas and protect approaches. Large, fast and undulating greens reward correct line and pace but expose approaches played from poor positions. The three tee sets alter both length and angle, allowing the same holes to create different strategic decisions.
The back markers create a full-length test, so select a yardage that keeps the water decisions realistic.
Choose landing areas that leave a clear approach rather than automatically aiming for the widest visible section.
Confirm club selection on exposed holes because the Andaman breeze can change both carry distance and shot shape.
Ask your caddie about subtle borrows and safe misses across Aquella’s large, fast and undulating greens.
Hole 11 – Par 3: Aquella’s official signature hole reaches the beach and exposes the tee shot to the wind and sound of the Andaman Sea. Two large front bunkers narrow the entrance to the green, while a steep run-off behind it punishes excess club. Accurate distance control matters more than raw length.
Hole 12 – Par 4: The next hole immediately changes the demand. It is the course’s stroke-index-one hole and extends to 493 yards from the back markers. Following the exposed coastal par 3, golfers must reset for a long two-shot hole where disciplined positioning is more valuable than forcing an aggressive approach from the wrong angle.
Aquella has a 20-bay covered driving range with automated ball dispensers, an 18-hole mini-golf course, a pro shop and golf bag storage. The Approach restaurant serves local and international food in the clubhouse. Golfers should wear a collared shirt, tailored shorts or trousers and golf shoes. Fairways of Eden arranges one caddie per golfer and a golf cart with the tee-time request. Rental clubs should be requested before confirmation, while current operating and cart rules are confirmed for the selected date.
The current starting rate is displayed dynamically in the booking card above. It covers the services identified beside the rate, while the exact playing time, availability and final booking details remain subject to confirmation by Aquella Golf & Country Club.
Aquella is approachable from the shorter tees but considerably more demanding from the back markers. Water affects many holes, coastal wind can change club selection, and the large undulating greens reward accurate approaches and controlled putting pace.
Beginners can play Aquella by choosing the shortest published tees and following their caddie’s advice. Alternative routes allow golfers to avoid carrying every water hazard, although complete beginners may still find the course’s length, wind and repeated water decisions demanding.
Fairways of Eden arranges one caddie per golfer and a golf cart with the tee-time request. Aquella’s public course information does not provide a complete mandatory-use or cart-driving policy, so the confirmed booking instructions should be treated as the controlling information for the selected date.
