The Lakes Course begins with generous sightlines and broad landing areas, but water quickly becomes the constant visual and strategic presence. The round moves across gently shaped ground with lakes framing tee shots and approaches rather than relying on steep elevation. Large greens offer usable space, yet their edges often sit close to water or bunkering. The experience feels open and playable until the closing hole tightens the decisions and demands a precise finish.
Blue Canyon was developed across abandoned open-cast tin-mining land bordered by rubber plantations. Rather than flattening the property into a conventional resort layout, the Lakes Course retained existing land flow, wooded areas and water-filled depressions as the foundation of its identity. Those water bodies are not decorative additions: they shape play on 17 holes, while the surrounding vegetation keeps the course connected to the wider northern Phuket landscape.
Yoshikazu Kato designed the Lakes Course around generous driving areas followed by more exacting approach decisions. Water repeatedly narrows the useful side of a fairway, so the safest tee shot does not always provide the clearest angle into the green. Large putting surfaces reduce the need for tiny targets, but their placement beside lakes, bunkers and shaped surrounds makes distance control important. The strategic depth comes from choosing how much water to challenge while preserving a full view and comfortable yardage for the next shot.
Use the official tee set that keeps repeated water carries comfortable rather than selecting tees only by total yardage.
Favour landing areas that preserve a clear view of the green, even when a longer route appears available.
Large greens reward accurate yardage control because misses near their water-facing edges can become costly quickly.
Confirm carry distances, safe targets and green contours with your caddie before committing to aggressive lines.
Hole 18 (Par 4): The final hole is the course’s clearest verified signature test. A solitary tree divides the fairway options: the higher left side gives a more open view of the small green, while the right can accommodate a longer drive but leaves the target partly concealed. The second shot must negotiate a green set between rust-coloured canyon walls, stepped mounding and a water-filled ravine, with one bunker offering limited margin on the left. Its combination of route choice, restricted visibility and demanding approach explains why Asian Golf Monthly named it Best Par Four in Asia in 2003.
Blue Canyon’s shared facilities include a driving range with covered and real-turf hitting areas, putting and short-game zones, a pro shop with rental equipment, male and female locker rooms, a spa and the Golfers’ Terrace restaurant. Rental clubs can be requested in advance. Fairways of Eden arranges the caddie and golf cart shown with the booking. Current dress-code, cart-driving and arrival requirements are confirmed with the tee time.
The current starting rate is displayed dynamically in the booking card above. It covers the services identified beside the rate, while the final playing time and availability remain subject to confirmation by Blue Canyon Country Club.
The Lakes Course is moderately demanding rather than brutally narrow. Its broad fairways and large greens provide room, but water influences play on 17 holes and can turn poor positioning or weak distance control into immediate penalties.
It can suit newer golfers who make reliable contact, choose suitable tees and accept that water may increase lost-ball risk. Complete beginners seeking a very forgiving first round are likely to find the repeated hazards frustrating.
The Fairways of Eden booking setup includes one caddie and one golf cart. Current course rules on compulsory use and who may drive the cart are reconfirmed with Blue Canyon Country Club during availability confirmation.
