Loch Palm opens with broad views across Crystal Lake and a relatively open lakeside rhythm, but water remains close to the preferred line on many early holes. After the turn, the course becomes more enclosed as it enters forested hills, bringing downhill shots, elevation changes and narrower sightlines. The change in ground and visibility gives the back nine a different tempo while the overall round remains compact and easy to follow.
Crystal Lake is not decorative background; it is the landform around which the opening sequence is organised. The approximately 48-acre lake was quarried during Phuket’s tin-mining period and now influences the first holes, where water repeatedly shapes the safer and more aggressive routes. Smaller lakes, more than 1,000 palms and a jungle-covered mountain backdrop continue the identity before the routing moves into the hillier inland half.
Loch Palm creates strategy through water placement, preferred angles and distance control rather than extreme length. Early landing areas are generally generous, yet the useful side of each fairway changes according to Crystal Lake, smaller hazards and the angle into the green. Several short par fours tempt golfers to attack, but the direct route brings water, bunkers or jungle closer into play. Tiered and undulating greens then reward approaches played from the correct position rather than shots that merely find the putting surface.
Use the official tee distances, because repeated water carries can make the course play harder than its total yardage suggests.
On the front nine, favour controlled starts and clear approach angles instead of challenging every edge of Crystal Lake.
Expect downhill shots, elevation changes and changing sightlines once the routing moves into the more enclosed forested hills.
Confirm wind, landing zones and green slopes with your caddie, especially on the exposed par threes and short par fours.
Hole 4 – Par 3: The first major forced carry crosses open water to a green where weak misses right are lost and long shots leave a difficult recovery.
Hole 15 – Par 3: A strongly downhill tee shot must account for wind, water, a long front bunker and an undulating green where simply finding the surface does not guarantee par.
Hole 18 – Par 4: The closing drive is squeezed between jungle on the left and water on the right, making controlled position more valuable than maximum distance.
Loch Palm has an aqua driving range, adjacent chipping and putting greens, a pro shop with rental clubs and shoes, a clubhouse restaurant, modernised locker rooms and three on-course kiosks. Caddies are compulsory, while golfers may walk or use a cart. Walking groups are limited to four players; five-player groups are permitted only when every golfer uses a cart. The course asks golfers to complete the round within approximately three and a half hours and requires collared shirts with appropriate footwear.
The current starting rate is displayed dynamically in the booking card above. It covers the services identified alongside the rate, while the final playing time, availability and complete inclusions remain subject to course confirmation.
Loch Palm is moderate rather than severe. Its manageable length and several generous landing areas help mid- and higher-handicap golfers, but water affects much of the front nine and the later holes introduce more elevation and tighter sightlines. Correct tee selection remains important for golfers uncomfortable with forced carries.
A caddie is mandatory for every golfer. A golf cart is not compulsory under the course rules, although Fairways of Eden’s displayed booking setup includes a cart. Golfers who specifically prefer to walk should mention this before confirmation so the applicable booking conditions can be checked.
