Mission Hills begins with generous-looking corridors, but the round quickly asks for more than straight driving. Expansive sand, canals and lakes repeatedly narrow the useful side of each fairway, while exposed sections make club selection sensitive to wind. The routing remains relatively level, so the main challenge comes from carrying hazards, finding the preferred angle and controlling approaches into shaped greens. The closing holes continue that pattern before a choice-driven finish.
Mission Hills occupies open ground on Phuket’s north-east coast, where Phang Nga Bay forms the visual backdrop and exposure influences playing conditions. Instead of relying on steep terrain, the course uses broad sandy areas, lakes and canals to divide routes and frame landing zones. The open sightlines make the property feel spacious, but they also leave less shelter from changing wind. This coastal relationship—not dramatic elevation—is the course’s clearest physical identity.
Mission Hills uses width as a decision rather than a guarantee of safety. Fairways often present room from the tee, but the useful side creates the cleaner approach around central bunkers, sandy waste or water. Several holes reward carrying hazards to shorten the next shot, while conservative lines remain available at the cost of distance or angle. Shared and alternative green complexes, pronounced spines and shallow targets add consequence after the drive. The design rewards controlled positioning and committed route selection more than simply aiming for the widest visible space.
The exposed back tees create long carries and demanding approaches, so match the yardage to your reliable carry distance.
Wide fairways can be deceptive; favour the side that opens the green rather than the largest visible landing area.
Reassess wind direction before exposed approaches because the required carry and starting line can change between shots.
Confirm the safest route and green section before committing to approaches across canals, lakes or extensive sand.
Hole 2 — Par 5: Two accurately placed shots are needed to create a comfortable approach to the island-green complex. The more aggressive left-side route over sandy waste improves the angle for players considering the green in two, while the conservative line leaves a controlled third shot.
Hole 5 — Par 4: This hole returns to the shared island-green complex from tees surrounded by sand. Reaching the upper fairway improves the view and approach angle, while shorter players can work left of the lake and treat the hole as a measured three-shot problem.
Hole 18 — Par 4: The closing hole can use different green complexes. The selected target changes the preferred tee-shot route around the lake and central bunker, making positioning and angle the defining decisions of the finish.
Mission Hills provides a 22-bay driving range, putting green, changing facilities, pro shop and rental clubs. Club rules require every golfer to take a caddie and golf cart, register before play, carry an individual bag and club set, and remain on the cart paths. Groups larger than four are not permitted, and the club may combine golfers into fourballs when busy. Request rental equipment before the playing date because availability can vary.
The current starting rate is displayed dynamically in the Green Fees & Booking card above. The services included with that rate are stated beside it. Your requested date, playing time and final booking details remain subject to confirmation with the course.
Mission Hills is moderately difficult from suitable tees. Broad fairways make several driving areas look inviting, but wind, water carries, extensive sand and demanding back-tee yardages can increase the challenge. Selecting an appropriate tee set is more important than judging the course only by its open appearance.
Newer golfers can play Mission Hills from the forward tees with guidance from their caddie. Complete beginners may find the recurring water, required carries and exposed conditions uncomfortable. The course is better suited to golfers who can advance the ball consistently and maintain a reasonable playing pace.
Yes. The official club policy requires every golfer to take a caddie and golf cart. Each player must also have an individual bag and club set, and golf carts must remain on the designated cart paths throughout the round.
