The round unfolds across broad, mostly level corridors where lakes and channels repeatedly shape the view from the tee. The lack of major elevation changes simplifies yardage calculation, but water narrows the comfortable line on several holes. Contoured greens add a second layer, so the course can feel manageable between shots yet demanding whenever an approach must carry a hazard or finish on the correct section of the putting surface.
The course occupies more than 2,000 rai in Lat Krabang, near Suvarnabhumi Airport. Its identity comes from the extensive water system surrounding and dividing the landscaped property. Because the ground is mostly level, the lakes and channels provide the principal physical definition: they separate holes, frame greens and repeatedly alter the safest line of play. Broad corridors and established planting soften the airport-side setting without obscuring the course’s central strategic feature.
Chohei Miyazawa’s routing uses water as the primary strategic defence rather than severe elevation. The most direct line is not always the safest: avoiding a lake can leave a longer or less comfortable approach, while challenging the hazard can improve the angle into the green. Several holes require a clear carry-or-lay-up decision, and the longest tee brings the full 7,240-yard scale into play. Tier changes, bunkers and fast putting surfaces make approach position as important as simply finding the green.

Use the wider side of each fairway when water closes the direct route, even if the approach becomes longer.
Prioritise the correct section because tier changes can turn a safe approach into a difficult first putt.
Ask your caddie to confirm carry distances and wind, particularly on the exposed par threes played across water.
Hole 5, par 5. The tee shot requires a substantial carry across water before the hole opens into its main landing area. Reaching the correct level of the two-tiered green is critical to avoiding a difficult first putt.
Hole 9, par 4. A hazard influences the preferred tee-shot distance and creates a genuine carry-or-lay-up decision. Water and bunkering continue to affect the approach, making this an important scoring test before the turn.
Hole 13, par 3. The course’s signature hole plays to an island-style green shaped into three distinct levels. The safest target changes with the flag position, and simply reaching the putting surface does not guarantee an easy par.
Hole 17, par 3. This long par 3 requires a committed carry across water to a bunker-guarded green. Wind can increase the effective playing distance, making club selection and a secure centre-green target more important than attacking the flag.

The Royal is moderately demanding from sensible tees and becomes significantly tougher from the longer sets. The mostly level ground reduces elevation complications, but repeated water carries, strategic bunkering and contoured greens punish poor distance control and careless target selection.
Beginners can enjoy the course from an appropriate forward tee, particularly with caddie guidance. It is not completely forgiving, however: water is central to the design, and several shots require confident carries. Newer golfers should prioritise position rather than distance.
Fairways of Eden bookings arrange one caddie and a golf cart for each golfer. The exact tee time, operating conditions and any course-specific cart or caddie instructions will be stated in the final confirmation issued before play.
