Golf Holidays in Thailand with Non-Golfing Partners
Custom Thailand golf holidays for couples, families and groups where not everyone plays golf — with smart tee times, non-golfer activities, beach resorts, spas, shopping, boat trips and balanced itineraries.
A Thailand golf holiday with a non-golfing partner should not feel like one person gets the holiday and the other person waits around. The best version gives the golfer proper rounds on quality courses while the non-golfer enjoys beaches, spas, shopping, cafés, boat trips, wellness, culture, food and relaxed resort time.
This is where Thailand works especially well. Golf can be planned early in the day with caddies, carts and private transfers, while the non-golfer has real options nearby instead of being stuck at the hotel. By the afternoon, the trip becomes shared again: beach time, pool time, dinner, shopping, massages, boat days or local experiences.
Fairways of Eden builds Thailand golf holidays around both sides of the trip. The golfer gets the right courses, tee times and transfers; the non-golfer gets the right hotel area, activity options and enough shared holiday time to make the trip feel balanced. The goal is simple: nobody should feel like they are tagging along.
Quick Answers
How do golf holidays with non-golfing partners work in Thailand?
A non-golfer friendly Thailand golf holiday works best when the golf schedule and the non-golfer plan are designed together. The key is not just choosing good courses — it is choosing the right hotel area, tee times, activities and shared days so both travellers get a real holiday.
What can non-golfers do while golfers play?
They can enjoy the beach, pool, spa, cafés, shopping, markets, temples, boat trips, food tours, fitness, wellness or local sightseeing. The best choice depends on the hotel area and how long the golfer is away.
Can a non-golfer join the golfer on the course?
Often yes, but it must be confirmed course by course. Some clubs allow non-playing followers for a small fee, and some may require a buggy, caddie or proper golf dress code.
Should a non-golfer join every round?
Usually no. Joining one scenic or special round can be fun, but following every round may feel long in the heat. Most non-golfers enjoy the trip more with their own plans during golf time.
How many rounds are fair for this trip style?
For most couples, two or three rounds in 7 nights feels balanced. Golf-first groups can play more, but shared days and non-golfer activities should be planned clearly.
What matters most when choosing the hotel?
The hotel area matters as much as the course list. A non-golfer should have beach access, walkable restaurants, spas, cafés, shopping or easy activity transfers while the golfer plays.
How do you make the trip appealing to a non-golfer?
Do not sell it as “my golf trip”. Show the full holiday: where they stay, what they can do during tee times, which days are shared and what experiences are planned around the golf.
The Best Destinations for Golf Holidays with Non-Golfing Partners in Thailand
Each Thailand golf destination works differently when not everyone plays. The best choice depends on what the non-golfer wants during tee times: beach time, spas, shopping, food, culture, boat trips, wellness or simply a comfortable resort base.
The strongest all-round choice when one person wants serious golf and the other wants beaches, spas, boat trips, resorts and island atmosphere.
Best for: Beach + activities Ideal stay: 7–10 nights
Phuket golf holidays are often the easiest sell to a non-golfer because the island feels like a full holiday even without golf. The golfer can play in the morning while the non-golfer enjoys the beach, spa, shopping, cafés, resort pool or an organised activity.
A relaxed choice for non-golfers who prefer calm resorts, beach walks, wellness, markets, cafés and slower seaside evenings.
Best for: Calm shared holidays Ideal stay: 5–8 nights
Hua Hin golf holidays suit couples and families who want the non-golf side of the trip to feel easy rather than busy. It is a strong choice when the non-golfer likes beach time, markets, spas, restaurants and a safe, relaxed town atmosphere.
Golf and non-golfer highlights: Hua Hin combines premium rounds at Black Mountain, Pineapple Valley and Seapine Beach Golf with beach walks, spa time, Cicada Market, Vana Nava Water Jungle, cafés, seafood dinners and Monsoon Valley Vineyard.
Why it works for non-golfers
Calm beach-town rhythm without heavy nightlife
Good choice for wellness, markets, food and relaxed resort time
Easy for golfers to play morning rounds and return for shared afternoons
Strong fit for couples who want comfort more than party energy
A strong option when golfers want maximum course choice and non-golfers want islands, shopping, restaurants, attractions and lively evenings.
Best for: Golf + activity choice Ideal stay: 5–7 nights
Pattaya golf holidays work well when the golfer wants Thailand’s deepest course rotation and the non-golfer wants plenty to do. The key is choosing the right base, such as North Pattaya, Jomtien or a selected resort area, rather than treating the whole destination as one nightlife zone.
Golf and non-golfer highlights: Pattaya pairs rounds at Siam Country Club, Chee Chan and Laem Chabang with Koh Larn island trips, Terminal 21, Sanctuary of Truth, Nong Nooch Tropical Garden, beach clubs, restaurants, spas and private yacht charters.
Why it works for non-golfers
Excellent when the golfer wants more rounds and course variety
Good activity choice for non-golfers who do not want only beach time
Island, shopping and attraction days fit well around golf
The right hotel area keeps the trip balanced and comfortable
A smart city chapter when the golfer wants one premium round and the non-golfer wants shopping, food, spas, culture and river experiences.
Best for: 2–3 night stopovers Ideal stay: 2–3 nights
Bangkok golf holidays work best as a short opening or closing chapter. The golfer can play one premium round while the non-golfer has some of Thailand’s strongest options for shopping, spas, dining, river trips, cafés and cultural experiences.
Golf and non-golfer highlights: Bangkok works well with one round at Thai Country Club, Nikanti, Thana City eller Muang Kaew, while non-golfers enjoy ICONSIAM, Chatuchak, spa time, rooftop dining, Chao Phraya river trips and temple visits.
Why it works for non-golfers
Best city choice for shopping, food, culture and spa time
Ideal for one round while the non-golfer explores independently
Strong as a stopover before Phuket, Hua Hin or Pattaya
Good option when the non-golfer prefers city comfort over beaches
A softer island choice where the non-golfer experience leads the trip and golf becomes one memorable scenic round.
Best for: Non-golfer first trips Ideal stay: 3–5 nights
Koh Samui golf holidays are ideal when the non-golfer side of the holiday matters more than course count. Samui is not a multi-course golf hub, but it works beautifully as a beach-first extension where the golfer plays one special round and the rest of the trip is shared island time.
Golf and non-golfer highlights: Koh Samui centres around one scenic round at Santiburi Samui Country Club, with beaches, private villas, wellness retreats, restaurants, spas, island drives and boat trips around Ang Thong National Marine Park.
Why it works for non-golfers
Best when golf is one highlight, not the main structure
Excellent for villas, beaches, wellness and slow island time
Strong choice after a golf-heavy stay elsewhere in Thailand
Easy to make the non-golfer feel like the trip was built for them too
What can non-golfers do while golfers play?
The best non-golfer plan starts with the daily rhythm. A round of golf in Thailand usually takes a half day once transfers, check-in, warm-up, 18 holes, shower and return travel are included. That means the non-golfer needs more than “wait at the hotel” — they need useful options that fit the same time window.
For a simple morning tee time, the non-golfer can enjoy breakfast slowly, book a spa treatment, go to the pool, walk to the beach, visit a café, shop nearby or take a short local tour. In beach destinations, this can feel very natural because the golfer is back by early afternoon and the rest of the day is shared.
For longer golf days, a half-day activity works better: a Phuket Old Town visit, a Bangkok shopping and spa morning, a Hua Hin market and café route, a Pattaya island or shopping plan, or a private transfer to an activity that does not require the golfer. The more independent the non-golfer is during tee times, the more relaxed the whole trip feels.
Can non-golfing partners join on the golf course?
In many cases, yes — non-golfing partners can join as followers or riders, but it should never be assumed. Each golf course sets its own rules, and some may charge a follower fee, require a golf cart, require an extra caddie, limit access on busy days or apply the same dress code as golfers.
This can work very well for one special round, especially at scenic courses where the non-golfer enjoys the landscape, clubhouse, photography and the experience of seeing Thai golf culture up close. It is usually less ideal for every round, because 18 holes in Thailand’s heat can feel long for someone who does not play.
The best approach is to treat course-following as an optional experience, not the main non-golfer plan. Fairways of Eden can check the follower rules with the course before booking and advise whether joining the round makes sense or whether a separate activity would be more enjoyable.
How to convince a non-golfer that a Thailand golf holiday can work
The wrong way to sell this trip is to say, “You can just relax while I play golf.” That may be true, but it does not make the non-golfer feel included. The better approach is to show them the full holiday: the hotel, beach area, spa options, restaurants, shared days, boat trips, shopping, markets and the schedule that brings both travellers back together after golf.
Instead of asking the non-golfer to accept a golf holiday, build a holiday where golf has its place. Choose morning tee times, limit the number of rounds to a fair balance, add full shared days, and let the non-golfer influence the hotel area and activities. That turns the conversation from “my golf trip” into “our Thailand holiday with some great golf included.”
It also helps to be honest about the rhythm. A golfer might play two or three mornings in a week, but afternoons and evenings stay open. Rest days can be built around boat trips, spas, city experiences, beach clubs, food, markets or a villa day. When the non-golfer can picture their own version of the trip, the whole idea becomes much easier to say yes to.
How many golf rounds are fair when one person does not play?
For most couples, two or three rounds in a 7-night trip is the easiest balance. That gives the golfer enough proper golf without making the non-golfer feel like the holiday is built around someone else’s hobby. In a 10-night trip, three or four rounds can work well if there are shared rest days and the hotel location is strong.
For groups, the answer depends on who is travelling. A golf-heavy group with one or two non-golfers may still play four or five rounds if the non-golfers have independent plans and enjoy the destination. A couple where only one person plays should usually protect more shared time.
The important point is to agree the rhythm before booking. Once the course plan, hotel and non-golfer options are clear, the trip feels intentional instead of improvised.
What can be included in a non-golfer friendly Thailand golf holiday?
A custom Thailand golf holiday with non-golfing partners can include accommodation, tee times, green fees, professional caddies, golf carts where available, private airport transfers, hotel-to-course transfers, activity transfers, spa time, boat trips, shopping time, local tours, restaurant planning, non-golfer activity options and Thailand-based support throughout the trip.
The package can stay simple with hotel, golf and transfers, or it can be built into a fuller shared holiday with beaches, private villas, yacht days, wellness, city stopovers and cultural experiences around the golf. For the full structure, see what can be included in a Thailand golf holiday.
Start planning your Thailand golf holiday with a non-golfing partner
A golf holiday with a non-golfer works best when both sides of the trip are planned from the beginning. The golfer should get memorable rounds on quality courses, and the non-golfer should get a destination, hotel and activity plan that feels exciting in its own right.
Fairways of Eden helps couples, families and groups compare Phuket, Hua Hin, Pattaya, Bangkok, Koh Samui and other Thailand golf destinations, then builds a custom itinerary around golf, non-golfer activities, transfers, hotels and shared experiences.

You pay for the service before you go on holiday so it doesn’t count as spending money, right?! 😀 every pick up and drop off was on time and very efficient in communication. Thoroughly enjoyed our experience. Black mountain, pineapple valley, palm hill and majestic creek in that order 😍

Having been to Thailand before but never playing golf I find myself thinking I was fortunate to find Fairways of Eden talked about on some reviews I saw. Robert the boss is fantastic. Not only did he get me the best rates but also was able to switch a booked day when my back played up. I won’t come to Thailand again to play golf without using FOE.

I’ve just enjoyed a fabulous golf trip in Hua Hin, Thailand with Fairways of Eden. They did a wonderful job of organising everything for me and it completely removed a lot of the stress which allowed me to enjoy a first class holiday.
Fairways of Eden selected four fabulous courses for me to play including Black Mountain GC and Pineapple Valley GC. These are two of the best courses in Asia never mind Thailand.
Every day was full of fun and I enjoyed some laughter. The caddies were great too - Kooki at Majestic Creek was excellent. They all spoke a decent level of English and had a good understanding of the game.
The food at the courses is well worth sampling too. Special mention to the restaurants at Majestic Creek and Pineapple Valley.
Fairways of Eden ensured that I was transported to the courses and to and from the airport. They even organised my last day trip to Bangkok so I didn’t have to leave my luggage anywhere.
This was the best golf trip I have ever undertaken and I would like to acknowledge Fairways of Eden for ensuring that my holiday went so smoothly.
Courses played:
Pineapple Valley
Majestic Creek
Black Mountain
Palm Hills
