A century-old beachfront estate at Khao Tao
Charras Bhawan stands on Khao Tao Beach, a quiet fishing-village cove just south of Hua Hin on the Gulf of Thailand. Founded nearly a century ago by Khun Yaa Charras Sanidvongs Na Ayudhaya, the family estate has been carefully transformed into an elegant retreat that honours its colonial-era architecture and rich heritage. The setting is serene and green, framed by Khao Tao mountain and temple, yet central Hua Hin — with its Victorian-era railway station, Night Market and Cicada Market — is only around 15–20 minutes north.
Golf access and getting around
From this southern base, Hua Hin’s golf is within easy reach. Black Mountain Golf Club, one of Asia’s most acclaimed championship courses, sits west of town; Pineapple Valley (formerly Banyan) adds a scenic premium round; Seapine Beach is one of Thailand’s only true coastal courses, just up the road; and Majestic Creek offers a relaxed, great-value 27 holes in the hills. Most courses are 15–35 minutes away, and Bangkok is a 2.5–3 hour drive. The prime golf season runs November to April.
