The setting and heritage

The Standard, Hua Hin sits on Naresdamri Road in the centre of Hua Hin, the genteel seaside town on the Gulf of Thailand that Thai royalty made their summer retreat a century ago. The resort opens straight onto the beach through lush, design-led gardens, and that central position is a big part of its appeal: the historic Hua Hin Railway Station with its Victorian-era royal pavilion, the bustling Hua Hin Night Market, and the weekend art stalls of Cicada Market are all a short walk or drive away. Khao Takiab (Monkey Mountain) and the Monsoon Valley vineyards make easy day trips.

Design, pool, dining and pets

Inside, the mood is playful and colourful — a Standard signature — across 196 rooms, suites and villas, some with private pools, wrapped around a vibrant pool scene and a beach club with loungers and yoga on the sand. Dining is a highlight: Praça serves Thai izakaya plates and craft cocktails in one of Hua Hin’s most stylish beachfront settings, while Lido handles all-day indoor and al fresco meals and The Juice Café adds light bites and high tea. The Standard Spa works in a garden setting, and the resort is genuinely pet-friendly — it even donates a share of pet revenue to local Hua Hin animal rescues.

Golf access and getting around

For golf, Hua Hin is one of Thailand’s most relaxed and rewarding bases, with most courses 15–35 minutes from the centre. Black Mountain Golf Club — a regular tournament host and one of Asia’s most acclaimed layouts — sits in the hills west of town, while Pineapple Valley (formerly Banyan) offers a scenic, premium round nearby. For something different, Royal Hua Hin Golf Course, Thailand’s oldest, lies right beside the railway station in town, and Seapine Beach Golf is one of the country’s only true seaside courses. Hua Hin is also an easy 2.5–3 hour drive from Bangkok, making it simple to combine with a wider trip. The cooler, drier golf season runs November to April.

Ich unternehme schon seit vielen Jahren Golfreisen in unterschiedlichster Konstellation (mit Freunden, mit Familie, zu zweit, zu viert, …) und organisiere diese Reisen auch stets selbst. Das heißt, dass ich sicherlich eine gewisse Routine darin habe, wie man schöne Plätze auswählt, wie man t-times schon viele Wochen im Voraus bucht und wie die An- und Abreise funktioniert. In Thailand ist das aber nicht ganz so einfach, denn man kann viele Schritte nicht direkt online erledigen und muss auch einige Rahmenbedingungen berücksichtigen. Deshalb habe ich mich diesmal entschieden „Fairways of Eden“ zu kontaktieren und ich muss wirklich sagen, dass wir restlos begeistert waren. Wir haben nach einer kurzen Kontaktaufnahme ein wirklich tolles Golfprogramm mit super Platzempfehlungen an unterschiedlichen Orten bekommen und das schließlich auch gebucht. Und ich kann wirklich behaupten, dass das unseren Individual-Golfurlaub absolut perfektioniert hat. Wir sind immer pünktlich vom jeweiligen Hotel abgeholt worden, haben auf den schönsten Plätzen Thailands gespielt, Vorort war alles perfekt organisiert, wir sind wieder pünktlich zurückgebracht worden ohne auch nur einmal Rückfrage halten zu müssen. Wenn es möglich wäre, würde ich daher sogar 6 Sterne in der Bewertung angeben! Deshalb vielen lieben Dank Robert für deine Professionalität; ich habe dich schon vielen meiner Golffreunde weiter empfohlen und wir werden im kommenden Jahr bestimmt wieder bei „Fairways of Eden“ buchen.
