Visiting golfers can use a surprisingly wide range of outdoor driving ranges in Thailand without booking 18 holes. Bangkok has dedicated city ranges, TrackMan-equipped facilities and Topgolf; Phuket includes a floating-ball lake range at Loch Palm as well as large grass practice facilities; Pattaya combines standalone city ranges with championship-course practice grounds; Hua Hin has both public practice access and restricted course ranges; and Chiang Mai has some of Thailand’s largest modern driving-range facilities. Access is not universal, however: some golf-course ranges accept general practice guests, while others are reserved for members, resort guests or golfers playing that day.
If your goal is simply to practise golf in Thailand for an hour or two, you normally do not need to book a full round. The important distinction is the type of facility. A dedicated driving range is generally the easiest option for standalone practice. A course-based range may offer better grass tees, bunkers and short-game areas, but you must check whether outside practice guests are accepted.
Club rental is available at several facilities, including 42 Tee-Off, Phothalai, Blue Canyon and a number of golf clubs, but it should never be assumed. Booking also varies: some ranges accept normal walk-in practice, while technology bays, premium bays and course-based facilities are safer to reserve or confirm in advance.
What this guide covers: This is an outdoor driving-range and golf-practice guide. Topgolf Megacity is included because players hit real golf balls into a real outdoor outfield from covered bays. TrackMan and Toptracer are included where they enhance outdoor practice. For simulator-first venues and virtual golf studios, use our Indoor Golf in Thailand guide. For trip planning aimed specifically at new golfers, see Beginner-Friendly Golf Holidays in Thailand.
Which Thailand Driving Ranges Are Especially Distinctive?
Most golfers do not need thirty-five choices. They need to know which facilities offer something meaningfully different. These practice experiences stand out because of their setting, scale, technology or access model.
Thailand Driving Ranges: Main Comparison Table
The table below is designed around a visitor’s actual decision: Can I practise there without 18 holes, what kind of hitting environment is it, and what makes the trip worthwhile? A course having a range does not automatically mean that a non-player can arrive and buy balls.
Last checked: 24 September 2026. Practice facilities, opening times and grass-tee availability can change, so check current details directly with the venue before making a dedicated trip.
Driving Ranges in Bangkok
Bangkok has the deepest choice of dedicated practice facilities in this guide. You can choose between a city range close to the BTS, a large TrackMan facility, a public country-club range, a lake-facing range, a social Topgolf session or a traditional tray-based practice facility. For full rounds rather than practice, use the Bangkok golf holiday guide or the Bangkok golf-course directory.
42 Tee-Off — Sukhumvit / Phra Khanong
42 Tee-Off works especially well for golfers staying along Sukhumvit because the operator places it about 280 metres from BTS Phra Khanong. It publishes more than 44 real-ball hitting bays with TrackMan Range at every bay, plus putting and chipping areas and rental clubs.
Current standard pricing is 550 THB per hour, with 2026 promotional rates offered at selected times. Published opening hours are 07:00–23:00 Monday to Friday and 06:00–22:00 on weekends and public holidays. Eight left-handed bays are currently published.
Why choose it: You want a city-based outdoor range, measured shot data, club rental and a practice window that can extend well into the evening. Check current 42 Tee-Off information.
Phothalai Golf Park — Bang Kapi
Phothalai is a much larger practice destination rather than simply a few bays near a course. Its current golf information lists 61 normal bays, 14 TrackMan bays and two TrackMan VIP rooms across two levels.
The current English page publishes 550 THB for 100 balls at the TrackMan Range and 1,000 THB for a rental golf set. Business hours are 09:00–22:00 Monday to Friday and 08:00–22:00 on weekends and public holidays. Because several bay products are sold separately, reserve ahead when a particular TrackMan or VIP setup matters.
Why choose it: You want a substantial technology-assisted practice session and a wider choice of bay types than a conventional city range. Check Phothalai Golf Park.
Panya Indra Golf Club Driving Range — Khan Na Yao
Panya Indra Golf Club has one of Bangkok’s most distinctive practice settings: golfers hit floating practice balls out over the lake, while a 670-square-metre practice green supports chipping, putting and bunker work.
The range is currently published as open Tuesday to Sunday from 06:00–21:00 at 100 THB per tray, with capacity for up to 40 guests and food-and-beverage service.
Why choose it: You want a genuine lake driving range together with a substantial short-game area. Check current Panya Indra range information.
Thana City Country Club — Bangna
Thana City’s official range page removes one of the biggest uncertainties for visitors: it explicitly states that its driving range and practice facilities are open to the general public.
The facility publishes 30 practice bays, a chipping area with sand bunker and a lighted putting green, with opening hours of 06:00–20:00 daily. Its partner academy also offers video swing analysis and professional instruction.
Why choose it: You want a full practice setup in the Bangna / Suvarnabhumi side of Greater Bangkok and prefer an operator that clearly states public access. Check Thana City Driving Range.
Topgolf Megacity — Bangna
Topgolf is a hybrid entertainment and golf venue rather than an indoor simulator. Golfers stand in covered bays and hit real balls into a large outdoor outfield; Toptracer and game software add scoring and tracking on top of the physical shot.
Topgolf Megacity has 102 hitting bays, with up to six players sharing a bay. Clubs are available for use during gameplay, and the covered bays have fans/cooling. Opening starts from 09:00 with late-evening closing, and bay rates can start around 550 THB per hour. Pricing varies by day and time, so check the live venue rate when booking.
Why choose it: You want real-ball driving-range practice that can also work for a mixed group of serious golfers, casual players and non-golfers. This article treats the technology as secondary to the outdoor hitting experience; simulator-first venues remain in our Indoor Golf in Thailand guide. Check Topgolf Megacity.
Krungthep Kreetha Driving Range — Hua Mak
Krungthep Kreetha is a traditional eastern-Bangkok practice option with multiple golf schools operating around the range. A current 2026 range check lists 80 THB per tray as a reference price and opening from 06:00 Tuesday to Sunday, with Monday starting later at 11:00 and the range closing at 21:00.
Prices can change, so confirm the current tray size and charge before travelling.
Why choose it: You want a conventional large range in eastern Bangkok rather than a technology-led venue. See the current range check.
Srinakarin Golf Driving Range — Nong Bon
Srinakarin is useful because it allows a golfer to combine repetitive range practice with a different form of real golf. Current information lists an outdoor driving range, practice green and separate 9-hole par-3 course.
The current pricing model is listed as hourly unlimited balls, at approximately 190 THB per hour on the lower level and 160 THB on the upper level. Listed hours are 10:00–21:30 weekdays and 08:30–21:30 weekends.
Why choose it: You want to hit a substantial number of balls and then move into short-hole golf rather than ending the session at the range. See current Srinakarin information.
Driving Ranges in Phuket
Phuket’s range scene is smaller than Bangkok’s but more varied than a short list suggests. Central Kathu gives you a conventional double-deck range and the unusual Loch Palm lake experience, while northern Phuket adds Blue Canyon, Laguna and Mission Hills. Red Mountain has an excellent practice facility, but it is restricted to golfers playing that day. See the Phuket golf holiday guide for the wider destination.
Phuket Country Club Driving Range — Kathu
Phuket Country Club publishes one of the clearest conventional range products on the island: a double-deck, 50-bay driving range with mat hitting plus putting and chipping greens.
Current published hours are 07:00–19:00, and a tray of 40 balls costs 110 THB. That clarity makes it useful for a visitor who wants a simple practice session without needing to decode an 18-hole golf package.
Why choose it: You want a straightforward bucket session in central Phuket, particularly from Patong, Kathu or Phuket Town. Check Phuket Country Club Driving Range.
Loch Palm Golf Club — Crystal Lake
Loch Palm Golf Club offers the most unusual range experience in Phuket: golfers hit floating golf balls onto Crystal Lake. The range sits directly within the lake-dominated setting that defines the opening part of the golf course.
For golfers looking for somewhere genuinely different, Loch Palm is far more memorable than a conventional field range and makes an excellent warm-up before a round.
Why choose it: You want a real lake driving-range experience in central Phuket. See the Loch Palm range description.
Blue Canyon Country Club — Mai Khao / Thalang
Blue Canyon has one of the broadest practice setups on the island. Its current official page lists 15 roofed bays plus 45 real-turf hitting positions, a short-game area with two bunkers, rough chipping areas, three pin positions, two putting areas, rental clubs and a café.
Published hours vary by day: Monday 06:00–17:30, Tuesday 08:00–18:30 and Wednesday–Sunday 06:00–18:30, with last orders earlier.
Why choose it: You want real turf and a serious long-game/short-game session in northern Phuket rather than a simple tray of balls. Check Blue Canyon’s range.
Laguna Golf Phuket — Bang Tao
Laguna Golf Phuket is especially relevant for golfers staying around Bang Tao and the Laguna resort complex. Current club media describes a 3,000-square-metre driving range extending 400 yards with natural-grass tees, target greens, practice bunkers and multiple chipping areas.
The practice facility is published as open daily from 06:30–17:00. The club also operates a PGA Golf Academy with TrackMan and video analysis for golfers looking for professional instruction.
Why choose it: You want a large natural-grass practice environment close to the Laguna/Bang Tao hotel zone. Check Laguna Golf Phuket.
Mission Hills Phuket — Pa Klok
Mission Hills Phuket publishes 22 covered bays, 22 automated tees and a putting green, while its wider golf-facility page confirms rental clubs.
The facility is built around covered practice, automatic tees and a dedicated putting green, making it one of Phuket’s more convenient all-weather range setups.
Why choose it: You are in north-east Phuket and want a covered range with automatic tees. Check Mission Hills’ current range page.
Red Mountain Golf Club — Kathu
Red Mountain has a 25-bay fully grassed range using premium golf balls, set within the club’s jungle surroundings.
It is important not to present this as another public Phuket range. The operator explicitly states that the facility is not available for public use and is reserved for golfers playing that day. That makes it a strong pre-round practice facility but the wrong destination for a standalone bucket session.
Why choose it: You are already playing Red Mountain and want a proper grass warm-up. See Red Mountain’s practice policy.
What about Phunaka Golf Course / Driving Range? Phunaka is not included as an active recommendation. The golf course is currently under major renovation, while the former driving-range listing is marked as closed.
Driving Ranges in Pattaya & Chonburi
Pattaya has two quite different practice markets. There are standalone ranges in the city for someone who only wants to hit balls, and there are extensive grass ranges attached to the region’s championship courses. The latter can be excellent practice facilities without necessarily being public walk-in ranges. For complete rounds, use the Pattaya golf holiday guide or Pattaya golf-course directory.
Phoenix Gold Golf & Country Club — Huay Yai
Phoenix Gold publishes a 12-bay range with both mats and natural turf, open daily from 06:00–18:00. Two separate practice greens are dedicated to chipping and putting, and the club publishes rental sets.
The club specifically presents the practice area both as a pre-round warm-up facility and as a place to work on your game, making it useful beyond a token few pre-tee-time swings.
Why choose it: You want mats, turf and separate short-game practice in one golf-course environment. Check Phoenix Gold facilities.
Pattaya Country Club Driving Range — Khao Mai Kaew
Pattaya Country Club has a dedicated range page describing a practice field of more than 300 yards beside the golf-course entrance.
The range is currently published as open daily until 20:00. Food and beverages are available, and the club says professional trainers are stationed at the practice facility.
Why choose it: You want a full-length range with an evening operating window on the eastern Pattaya side. Check Pattaya Country Club Driving Range.
Pattaya Golf Driving Range & Diana Driving Range — North Pattaya
These two facilities serve a different intent from the championship clubs: standalone city practice. Pattaya Golf Driving Range is located around the Third Road area, while Diana Driving Range is on North Pattaya Road. Both are practical options when you simply want to hit balls in town rather than travel out to a resort course.
Why choose them: You want a practical Pattaya city range rather than travelling to a golf resort just to practise. Check Pattaya Golf Driving Range or Diana Driving Range before travelling.
Chee Chan Golf Resort — Na Jomtien / Sattahip
Chee Chan Golf Resort publishes a practice setup built around a large grass tee, putting green and separate chipping green. Its PGA Academy was explicitly launched to the public.
For golfers playing Chee Chan or arranging professional instruction, it is one of the region’s more complete grass-practice setups.
Why choose it: You want premium grass practice and short-game facilities in the Chee Chan area. See the club’s PGA Academy information.
Laem Chabang International Country Club — Si Racha
Laem Chabang publishes a full-length driving range supported by putting greens, chipping areas and bunker-practice facilities.
The operator describes the practice facility for members, guests and tournament participants and also refers to professional instruction and dedicated practice sessions.
Why choose it: You want a complete course-style practice environment with bunker and short-game work north of Pattaya. Check Laem Chabang’s driving range.
Siam Country Club Practice Ranges — Old Course, Plantation, Waterside & Rolling Hills
Siam Country Club should not be represented by a single range entry because its current individual course pages publish practice facilities across several properties. Old Course, Plantation, Waterside and Rolling Hills each publish a natural-grass driving range plus putting and chipping facilities; the respective pro shops also offer club hire.
These are best viewed as premium course-based practice facilities, particularly useful for golfers warming up before a round at the respective Siam Country Club property.
Why choose them: You are playing a Siam Country Club course and want natural-grass warm-up and short-game practice on the same property. Current facility pages: Old Course, Plantation, Waterside and Rolling Hills.
Driving Ranges in Hua Hin & Cha-am
Hua Hin is where access rules matter most. Pineapple Valley explicitly sells practice access to general guests, while Black Mountain and Springfield explicitly restrict their practice facilities to defined guest categories. That difference is more useful to a visitor than simply knowing that all three courses have a driving range. For broader planning, see the Hua Hin golf holiday guide.
Pineapple Valley Golf Club — Thap Tai
Pineapple Valley provides one of the strongest examples of transparent visitor practice access. Its official 2026 rates explicitly list general guests: 100 THB per driving-range tray and 500 THB per short-game session, with all practice visitors registering at the pro shop.
The course describes a three-tiered grass driving range and two large practice greens with bunkers. Club rental is available through the pro shop.
Why choose it: You want a genuine grass/short-game practice visit without an 18-hole green fee and you value a clearly published outside-guest policy. Check the current 2026 practice rates.
Royal Hua Hin Golf Course Driving Range — Central Hua Hin
Royal Hua Hin publishes a simple range proposition: 14 hitting positions and 50 THB for 40 balls, plus a drink kiosk.
It is a simple, low-cost central-Hua-Hin option for golfers who mainly want to hit a bucket of balls.
Why choose it: You are staying centrally and want a very inexpensive bucket session close to town. Check Royal Hua Hin’s range page.
Black Mountain Golf Club — Hua Hin
Black Mountain’s practice facility is substantial: a 300-yard range with covered bays, multiple target greens and pins, plus a grass hitting area, pitching, chipping, bunker and putting practice. Current range balls are published at 100 THB for 40 balls, with driving-range hours of 06:00–18:00 and last ball purchase at 17:30.
The access rule is equally clear: the facility is for golf-club members, green-fee guests and resort guests. It is therefore not a public standalone Hua Hin range.
Why choose it: You are playing Black Mountain or staying at the resort and want a complete warm-up/training environment. Check Black Mountain practice facilities.
Palm Hills Golf Club — Cha-am / North Hua Hin
Palm Hills publishes a driving range and putting green near Hole 1. Its current FAQ lists 40 balls for 40 THB and club rental at 1,000 THB.
The range and putting green sit near Hole 1, making the facility especially convenient for a pre-round warm-up.
Why choose it: You are staying north of Hua Hin / around Cha-am and want an inexpensive warm-up or practice stop. Check Palm Hills.
Sea Pines Golf Driving Range — Khao Takiab / Suan Son
Sea Pines has a separate covered driving range near the southern Hua Hin / Suan Son area, with current operating hours listed as 06:30–18:00 daily. It is a straightforward local practice option rather than a large resort-style training complex.
Why choose it: You are based around Khao Takiab or southern Hua Hin and want a simple standalone range nearby. See the current listing.
Springfield Royal Country Club — Cha-am
Springfield Royal publishes an expansive natural-grass driving range, two chipping/pitching greens and two putting greens.
The operator explicitly restricts these facilities to daily green-fee guests, members and resort guests. Current range hours are 06:00–18:00 on Monday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday; 06:00–16:00 Tuesday; and 10:00–18:00 Wednesday, with last-ball times earlier.
Why choose it: You are already playing or staying at Springfield and want a complete natural-grass warm-up and short-game session. Check Springfield’s current practice policy.
Lake View Resort & Golf Club — Cha-am
Lake View has a grass driving range and short-game practice areas, together with rental clubs and the wider resort facilities.
The grass range and short-game areas fit naturally into a golf or resort stay at Lake View.
Why choose it: You are already at Lake View for golf or accommodation and want grass practice in the same resort environment.
Driving Ranges in Chiang Mai
Chiang Mai has a particularly strong dedicated-range option because M Sport now operates both its original complex and the newer M Sport Plus+ facility. Golf-course ranges then add more traditional practice choices around Hang Dong, San Kamphaeng and the northern countryside. See our Chiang Mai golf holiday guide for complete trip planning.
M Sport Plus+ Driving Range — San Sai
M Sport Plus+ announced its grand opening on 30 June 2026. The operator publishes a two-level facility with 128 bays and automatic tee systems at every bay in Nong Chom, San Sai.
It is open daily from 08:00–22:00 and is explicitly positioned as a facility for golfers and tourists of different levels.
Why choose it: You want a very large modern dedicated range with late opening and automatic tees. Check M Sport Plus+.
M Sport Driving Range / M Sport Complex — San Kamphaeng
The original M Sport facility remains relevant even after Plus+ opened. The operator publishes a 388-yard, two-level range with 68 hitting lanes, together with private rooms, TrackMan rooms, fitting/pro-shop services, food and drink and extensive parking.
Current opening is 08:00–22:00 daily.
Why choose it: You want a long practice field plus TrackMan rooms, fitting and equipment services in the same complex. Check M Sport Driving Range.
North Hill Driving Range — Hang Dong
North Hill publishes a 330-yard, 24-bay range with putting, chipping and bunker practice.
Current range hours are 11:00–21:00 Monday and 08:00–21:00 Tuesday to Sunday.
Why choose it: You are staying south of Chiang Mai and want full-bag practice plus short game at one venue. Check North Hill.
Alpine Golf Resort Chiang Mai — Ban Thi / San Kamphaeng side
Alpine Golf Resort Chiang Mai publishes a 250-yard driving range for practice before a round.
The club presents the range primarily as a place to practise before a round, so it fits best as part of an Alpine golf day or resort stay.
Why choose it: You are already playing or staying at Alpine and want a straightforward pre-round warm-up. Check Alpine’s facilities.
The Royal Chiangmai Golf Resort — Mae Faek
The Royal Chiangmai Golf Resort currently lists a driving range and two practice greens among its golf facilities, with rental clubs available on request.
It is best suited to golfers already visiting Royal Chiangmai for a round, with the range and practice greens available on the same property.
Why choose it: You are already travelling north of Chiang Mai for a Royal Chiangmai round and want practice on the same property.
Can You Use a Golf-Course Driving Range Without Playing 18 Holes?
Sometimes — but the answer is venue-specific. This is one of the most important differences between driving ranges in Thailand.
Clear standalone/public examples: 42 Tee-Off, Phothalai, Panya Indra’s published range product, Thana City, Topgolf Megacity, M Sport Plus+ and several traditional city ranges. Pineapple Valley also explicitly publishes a practice tariff for general guests.
Clearly restricted examples: Red Mountain states that its range is not public and is reserved for golfers playing that day. Black Mountain restricts practice to members, green-fee guests and resort guests. Springfield uses the same type of restricted access model.
Course-based examples: Blue Canyon, Loch Palm, Laguna, Phoenix Gold, the Siam Country Club courses, North Hill and several other clubs have substantial practice facilities that are especially useful when combined with a golf day at the venue.
Practical rule: A driving-range icon on a golf club’s facility list tells you the range exists. It does not prove that someone without a tee time can buy a bucket and use it.
What Does a Driving Range Session in Thailand Normally Involve?
A range visit is normally simpler than a golf round. There is no universal national process, but the common sequence is:
1. Arrive at the range desk, cashier or golf-club pro shop.
2. Confirm whether you are buying a tray of balls, a timed bay, an unlimited-ball session or a technology package.
3. Rent clubs if needed and if the facility offers them to range users.
4. Use the assigned bay, mat or grass area.
5. Pay separately for short-game facilities when the venue charges for them.
6. Return rental equipment before leaving.
The pricing format changes substantially by venue. Royal Hua Hin currently publishes 50 THB for 40 balls; Phuket Country Club publishes 110 THB for 40; Pineapple Valley charges general guests 100 THB per tray; 42 Tee-Off uses an hourly bay model; Srinakarin is currently listed with hourly unlimited balls; and Topgolf charges for the bay rather than a conventional bucket.
That means “how much is a driving range in Thailand?” has no single useful answer. The correct comparison is what you receive for the session.
Do You Need Your Own Golf Clubs?
No. Several Thailand driving ranges allow a visitor to practise without travelling with a full golf bag. 42 Tee-Off publishes individual-club and set rental, Phothalai publishes rental sets, Blue Canyon lists club rental, Topgolf provides clubs during gameplay, and many golf-club pro shops have rental sets.
What you should not do is assume that a rental set advertised for an 18-hole round can automatically be rented by a walk-in range guest. If you are travelling without clubs, confirm:
✓ whether rental is available for range-only use;
✓ right- or left-handed availability;
✓ whether you rent an individual club or full set;
✓ whether a deposit or ID is required; and
✓ whether the rental period is tied to a timed bay.
Grass Tees vs Mats: Which Thailand Ranges Let You Practise More Like the Course?
If contact with the ground is part of what you are working on, natural turf matters. Mats can hide a slightly heavy strike because the club can slide into the ball more easily than it does from grass.
Facilities with published natural-grass practice include Blue Canyon, Laguna Golf Phuket, Red Mountain, Phoenix Gold, the Siam Country Club practice facilities, Pineapple Valley and Springfield Royal.
Natural-grass areas can be rotated, closed for maintenance or restricted by the club. A facility publishing grass practice is therefore not a guarantee that the grass section will be open on every date.
Which Driving Ranges Work for Evening Practice?
Dedicated city ranges usually offer the strongest evening options. Current published/listed closing times include:
42 Tee-Off: until 23:00 on weekdays and 22:00 weekends/public holidays.
Phothalai: until 22:00.
Panya Indra: until 21:00 Tuesday–Sunday.
Thana City: until 20:00.
Pattaya Country Club range: until 20:00.
Pattaya Golf Driving Range: currently listed until 22:00.
Diana Driving Range: currently listed until 22:00.
M Sport Plus+: until 22:00.
North Hill: until 21:00.
Closing time is not always the same as last ball sale. Black Mountain and Springfield, for example, explicitly publish earlier last-ball times. If you are arriving near closing, call first.
Driving Range Etiquette in Thailand
✓ Hit only from the bay, mat or grass position allocated to you.
✓ Never walk onto an active outfield to retrieve a ball or tee.
✓ Keep bags, children and non-playing companions behind the hitting line unless staff direct otherwise.
✓ Leave enough space for the neighbouring golfer’s backswing and follow bay dividers or safety lines.
✓ Use grass areas only when they are open; do not move from mats onto turf simply because grass is visible.
✓ Check whether putting/chipping/bunker areas require your own balls or a separate fee.
✓ Course-based ranges may apply the golf club’s normal dress requirements even when a city range is more casual.
✓ Return rental equipment to the correct desk.
Driving Range vs Golf Simulator in Thailand
Choose an outdoor driving range when you want real ball flight, real weather, actual outdoor targets and — where available — natural turf. Choose an indoor simulator when climate control, virtual-course play or indoor convenience is the priority.
Facilities such as 42 Tee-Off and Topgolf show why technology does not automatically make a venue “indoor golf”. You still hit a real ball into an outdoor range; TrackMan or Toptracer adds measurement and gameplay.
For simulator-first venues and virtual golf studios, see Indoor Golf in Thailand.
Driving Range vs Golf Lesson: What Is the Difference?
A range session gives you repetitions. A lesson adds professional diagnosis and instruction. The two can happen in the same physical facility, but they serve different needs.
If you already know what you want to work on — wedge distances, contact, driver start direction or simply getting loose after travel — a self-guided range session may be enough. If you need someone to identify the cause of a swing problem, professional instruction is a separate decision.
How Early Should You Arrive to Practise Before a Round?
For a short range warm-up, arrive at least 45 minutes before the tee time. Allow around 60 minutes or more when you want a fuller session, rental clubs, short-game practice or a range that is separated from the clubhouse.
The practice session still has to fit around check-in, meeting your caddie, changing shoes, collecting rental equipment and reaching the first tee. Do not treat the full arrival buffer as hitting time.
For the wider pre-round sequence, see How Early Should You Arrive at a Golf Course in Thailand?.
How Should a Visitor Choose a Thailand Driving Range?
Thailand Driving Range FAQs
Can tourists use driving ranges in Thailand?
Yes. Dedicated driving ranges generally serve normal practice customers, and some golf clubs — such as Thana City and Pineapple Valley — explicitly publish public/general-guest practice access. Other course ranges are restricted or require confirmation.
What are the most unusual driving ranges in Thailand?
Loch Palm in Phuket is notable for hitting floating balls onto Crystal Lake. Panya Indra in Bangkok also sends floating practice balls out over the lake and combines that setting with a large short-game green. Topgolf Megacity combines real outdoor ball flight with Toptracer games, while Srinakarin can combine range practice with a 9-hole par-3 course.
Is Topgolf Bangkok a driving range or indoor golf?
It is best understood as a hybrid outdoor driving range. You hit real golf balls from covered bays into a real outdoor outfield. Toptracer and games sit on top of that physical range experience, so it is materially different from a simulator-only studio.
Is there a lake driving range in Phuket?
Yes. Loch Palm Golf Club has a distinctive lake driving range where golfers hit floating practice balls onto Crystal Lake.
Which Bangkok driving ranges are open late?
42 Tee-Off currently publishes closing at 23:00 on weekdays and 22:00 on weekends/public holidays. Phothalai closes at 22:00, while several other dedicated Bangkok ranges also operate into the evening. Always check last registration or ball-sale times.
How much does a Thailand driving range cost?
It depends on the business model. Current examples include 50 THB for 40 balls at Royal Hua Hin, 100 THB per tray for general guests at Pineapple Valley, 110 THB for 40 balls at Phuket Country Club and 550 THB per hour as the standard rate at 42 Tee-Off. Technology and social venues may charge by bay or time instead of by tray.
Can I practise from real grass?
Yes at selected facilities. Current published examples include Blue Canyon, Laguna Golf Phuket, Red Mountain, Phoenix Gold, Siam Country Club’s practice facilities, Pineapple Valley and Springfield Royal. Grass areas can close or rotate for maintenance, so confirm when turf practice is essential.
Can I rent golf clubs just for the driving range?
At some facilities, yes. 42 Tee-Off, Phothalai and Blue Canyon publish rental options, while Topgolf provides clubs during gameplay. At golf clubs, confirm that a rental set can be used by a range-only guest rather than assuming the 18-hole rental policy applies.
Can I use a golf-course driving range without a tee time?
Sometimes. Pineapple Valley explicitly sells practice access to general guests and Thana City says its practice facilities are open to the general public. Red Mountain reserves its range for golfers playing that day, while Black Mountain and Springfield limit access to defined guest categories. Other course-based ranges follow their own venue rules.
Should I book a driving range in advance?
For a conventional bucket range, walk-in practice may be normal. Book or call ahead when you need a specific TrackMan/Toptracer bay, rental clubs, a grass hitting area, a premium room or access to a golf-course practice facility without playing 18 holes.
Is a driving range useful before playing a Thailand golf course?
Yes, but build the practice into your arrival time. Allow at least 45 minutes for a brief warm-up and around 60 minutes or more for a fuller range and short-game session.
Where Should You Practise Golf in Thailand?
The right range depends less on the destination name than on what you want from the session.
Bangkok has the widest variety: central-city TrackMan at 42 Tee-Off, a large multi-format range at Phothalai, the lake driving range at Panya Indra, public practice at Thana City, social outdoor golf at Topgolf and traditional ranges such as Krungthep Kreetha and Srinakarin.
Phuket has fewer standalone ranges but several genuinely memorable facilities: Phuket Country Club for a simple central-island bucket, Loch Palm for floating balls over Crystal Lake, Blue Canyon and Laguna for extensive turf practice, Mission Hills for automated tees and Red Mountain for golfers already booked to play.
Pattaya combines convenient city ranges with some of Thailand’s most complete championship-course practice grounds. Use Pattaya or Diana for standalone city practice; consider Phoenix, Chee Chan, Laem Chabang or the Siam Country Club properties when the practice session is tied to a golf day.
Hua Hin requires the clearest access check. Pineapple Valley openly sells general-guest practice; Royal Hua Hin and Palm Hills publish low ball prices; Black Mountain and Springfield have excellent facilities but restricted access; Sea Pines provides a simpler southern-town option.
Chiang Mai is particularly strong for dedicated modern ranges through M Sport Plus+ and the original M Sport complex, while North Hill, Alpine and Royal Chiangmai add course-based practice around different sides of the city.
For a visitor, that is more useful than a list of every field with a net. Choose by access, hitting surface, short-game facilities, location, opening window and the type of practice you actually want.
